Do Elected Members hold a fiduciary duty, and if so to whom? The local government, the Council, the community, or to others? In this article, I examine how a common law fiduciary duty could apply to local government Elected Members.
The voice of local government Councillors are increasingly under threat when faced with issues that escalate to the media. A recent incident at the City of Kalamunda prompts this review of the authority Councillors have to speak up, to be held accountable by the community who need a voice and to facilitate open discussion.
Following a serious incident involving fox trapping, I am seeking a review of the effectiveness and safety of this practice
